Jesus taught us it was going to be hard, “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:14 NKJV).
He told us that there is a cost to following Him and being His disciple, “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple” Luke 14:33 (NKJV).
We are to make disciples (Matt 28:19-20). Unfortunately, many Christians aren’t disciple themselves. They are believers. If we do not act on that belief, then is it really faith at all. Following Jesus Christ as His disciple is hard.
Stepping out on faith to glorify God can be difficult. God is going to challenge us. God uses people for His glory, “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” 2 Timothy 2:3 (NKJV)
God uses suffering to perfect us. God will use the suffering to mold us into His likeness, “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” (Hebrews 2:10 NKJV)
Satan will attack us, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” 1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV).
There is a reason we are given armor, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV).
We have it too easy in America. We do not have to fear for our life or hide just to hold church. There are reports that over 2300 souls lost their life last year because of their faith.
It is not always easy to follow Jesus Christ as His disciple. One day He is going to ask you to do something that won’t be easy for you. I pray that you will have the courage to do it.
Worth every step, but not easy.
